YBC Mentor Series with HE Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner

Antony started his career in the Department of Trade and Industry before moving over to the FCO. He will share his views on how diplomacy has evolved in modern times, particularly in terms of the British government’s prosperity agenda. From a more personal perspective he will talk about leadership in the FCO, how he came to be High Commissioner and how he prepared for the role. He has made clear that he hopes this will be an interactive session and he expects to be challenged from the outset!

About the Mentor:
HE Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner
Antony Phillipson has been High Commissioner to Singapore since April 2011. Antony began his career in the Department of Trade and Industry where his posts include Private Secretary and then Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. In 2000 he was posted to the British Embassy in Washington as First Secretary (Trade Policy). In 2002 , he moved within the Embassy to become Counsellor (Global Issues). From 2004-2007 he was the Prime Minister’s Private Secretary for Foreign Affairs. In 2007 he moved back to the FCO as Head of the Iran Coordination Group.
